magazines and it’s probably the most prestigious cover for any model or
starlet. Below are my favorite September 2012 issue.

Tuesday Trendy

This week trendy report is on something that I am not really feeling – crop tops! Celebs of all ages are wearing crop tops from red carpets to everyday errand runs. But are crop tops a trend that’s suitable for all of us? In my humble opinion, it’s not. While there is nothing really wrong with the trend in itself, you can definitely rock it if you have the body and confidence to pull it off; it’s not something that is universally flattering and you have to be very careful with the fabric and cuts you choose to wear on the bottom while wearing the tops. Curvier or a little older women, in real life not in Hollywood (cause if you are there, you can basically get away with anything, lol), can’t really wear this trend. I think this is one trend that I will leave for the teenagers and skinny minis.

Below are pics of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna and Zoe Saldana looking hot in their crop tops; Miley & Selena even wears it during the day. I also added pics of Leona Lewis, Megan Good and Kim Kardashian (Kimmy wearing the same piece as Gweny) looking not so great in their crop tops; as you can see even though these are beautiful ladies, the cuts or fabrics they choose are simply not flattering. What is your opinion on crop tops? Love it or leave it?

Monday Madness

Mad about Ikat!!! Yes, I am completely in love with Ikat print. I like the repetition of the pattern and its a great alternative to wearing florals or stripes (though floral Ikat print is available). This print not only looks good in clothes, it’s looks great on shoes and home decorating items like lamp shades, cups/plates and pillows. It comes in various colors and if you are wearing it, then it easily goes from day to night. See how Katie Holmes and Khloe K. wears it casually during the day and Kristen Bell and Rachel Zoe dresses it up for night. Finally, our first lady shows us how to wear it for work. Below are some Ikat print items that you can get for yourself.

Retailers:

Ikat pillows
Ikat kitchen items
Ikat lampshade

Express Ikat dress
Topshop dress

Trendy news of the week is one of my favorite COLOR-BLOCK!! What a great excuse to wear all the colored items in your closet for this summer – clothes, shoes and jewelry!! If you haven’t been color-blocking, then what are you waiting for? You need to start ASAP. Color-blocking doesn’t mean you can only do it with bright colors; it applies to all the colors of the rainbow.

If you are someone who isn’t into brights or have to wear more neutrals for work, then you can still color-block with white, black, grey, brown/nude and blue. For the rest of us color fanatics, the combinations are endless.

But just for good measure, I always consult the color wheel (yes that one that you probably haven’t seen since your tiny tots school days). It helps to see what opposites are complimentary or how you can color-block using colors in the same range for that minimum effect.

Take a cue from all the celebs that are trending in color-block and below are some of my pics showing how I wear this trend.
