Tuesday Trendy: Pajama inspired outfit

Not feeling the pajama outfits that all the celebs are wearing for doing everything else but going to sleep.  It was a trend last year but then it stopped until recently when Riri was spotted wearing pajamas again at a night time even.  I don’t know if this is a trend that’s for everyday women like us; we can’t walk into your office meeting wearing this outfit or do shopping, it’ll just make us look sloppy.  I thought it was gone for good, but now I see it might be here to stay, not a fan.

 High-Top Wedge Sneakers

I am not much of a sneakers girl; I only wear it when I absolutely have to so suffice to say I don’t pay much attention to sneaker trends.  But recently I have been seeing these wedge heeled sneakers everywhere which caught my attention.  I don’t really like it; to me the definition of sneakers is where it everywhere – rain, shine, gym, hikes – and these heeled ones doesn’t scream all purpose.  Most importantly, I don’t think they look that stylish on.  This is a trend I am not trying.  Below are celebs wearing the high-top wedges.  What are your thoughts – love it or leave it?

Monday Madness

Mad about accordion pleats!  My obsession with accordion pleats started when I saw Carrie Bradshaw aka Sarah Jessica Parker in that blue Halston Heritage dress.  That dress was so modern, fresh, chic and completely effortless partly because of the light fabric but mostly because of the pleats.  If you take way the pleats, then it’ll just look like a boring, blah dress.

This look is so easy to take from day to night in a flash; take a cue from these stylish gals.  From the uber fashionista SJP, who also wore it to the 2010 MET Ball, to Taylor Swift, the Duchess of Cambridge and first lady Michelle Obama, everyone seems to love these pleats.  Dress it down like Taylor for running errands, with a knit top and black pumps for work like the Duchess, or in a flashy fabric like Michelle O for a date night.  Below are some of my accordion pleats collection and also retailers where you can get yours.

Let me know if you love/hate accordion pleats.

This week’s trendy topic is on spring/summer’s biggest splash – NEON! From clothes, shoes, jewelry to make up and even hair, we are seeing neon everywhere. Though I am not afraid of wearing colors, I am very cautious of wearing neon. It’s just so “look at me” bright that I feel like it points out all my flaws, lol. So, I decided to try out this trend little by little; I started with jewelry first, then to tops, and finally to a dress (yes, the orange dress below is my only neon dress). I am still on the fence about wearing neon shoes (I like my shoes and bags to be neutral colors) but I am definitely not going to try neon make up (too bold for me, lol). Below are some of my favorite celebs rocking the neon trend and also two of my pictures to show you how I wore my neon.

First picture is a daytime look of me wearing an eyelet dress with neon pink necklace and I paired that with bright (not neon) yellow and pink bracelets. I think the neon adds some sass to the plain white dress.

Second picture is my version of doing neon at night; it’s me wearing my neon orange dress with black accessories and shoes. Since the dress is so bright, I decided to wear it with simple, understated jewelry and plain black belt and shoes to tame the outfit a little.

Let me know in the comments below what you think about wearing neon and how you styled it. Is there any other trend that you are currently obsessed with or would like me to talk about?

Below are some places where you can get neon:

Today’s madness confession is about one of my favorite fabrics, CHIFFON!! I absolutely love any type of clothing made out of chiffon (or the cheaper, very similar stepsister 100% polyester).
It’s so versatile; from office to running errands to weddings or formal dinners, you can wear chiffon outfits anywhere because it’s so easy to dress up or down. It’s very flattering on most body type since it doesn’t cling on like jersey, wear out like cotton, or puffy like tulle. It also mellows out the loud colors like neon, red and fuchsia to make it more wearable for all.

Below are few pictures of me in chiffon (or the stepsister, lol), two long ones I wore for formal dinner dates, one to do a tour in Greece (so much history, loved that tour), and the last one to party in Vegas for my bachelorette (o yea, fun times!!!).

If you already don’t have anything chiffon in your closet, then what are you waiting for? Run, don’t walk, to the nearest mall and get some to add to your fabulous closet. Clothing made out of chiffon are available in any price point and trust me, this is a purchase you won’t regret.

You can find Chiffon at the following retailers

What-To-Do Wednesday – What to expect this Fall

The other day I heard someone complaining on how HOT it is in New York. I had to tell that person to shut up because in a month or two it’s going to get cold again and then he/she is going to wish and pray for this hot weather. When you are in NY, you have to treat every warm day as a luxury; enjoying while it’s here and pining for it when it’s gone. This weather convo got me thinking about how fall season will be coming soon and I need to go shopping!!! So, I have been scouring the web trying to find out what kinds of great fashion to expect this fall and thought I share with you lovelies about what I think most of us can easily take from the runways to our closets. I broke it down to three categories, Tough Chic, Textures, and Colors. Ready, set, let’s go SHOPPING!!!

  • Military – fall runways have seen this trend from most of the designers – two of my absolute favs showed it: Jason Wu and Victoria Beckham. Think hunter green (or navy) coat with brass buttons like or a structured sheath. A great parka with leather details is also a great way to incorporate this trend in your wardrobe.
  • Menswear – runways were showing models wearing pantsuit in all sorts of prints, patterns and colors with crop pants. I think I m going to keep mine a little conservative; however, I might try a suit with crop pants (look at how Emilio Pucci did it). I like the crop pants idea!!

  • Shakespearean – think royal glamour and opulence like you would see in Shakespeare’s plays (like this Dolce & Gabbana coat or Jessica Biel’s Instyle cover look), its plush fabric and great detailing with gold or colored stones.
  • Velvet – this is not hard to pull off, a nice velvet coat or a dress can be easily added to your closet. It’s a great way to add a little glamour to any outfit (Marc by Marc Jacobs’ blue velvet dress).
  • Leather – this one seems to never be out of style. If you read Monday’s post, then you know how leather is becoming popular this summer. Well, great news, now you can take your leather shorts, top, and skirt into fall. Just add some tights under the shorts and skirt and wool pants with the top and you are good to go (like above Michael Kors). Runways not only showed matte leather but also glossy leather in colors (though I think the glossy one is hard to pull off in real life).

  • Burgundy/Berry – it’s so season appropriate and is actually flattering on most skin colors. Berry colored soft sweater (like Tibi shown above with glossy leather skirt) or even a nice shearling jacket.
  • White – yes, you can wear white after Labor Day!! Think thick white sweater like Derek Lam is showing here or chiffon white blouse to wear under your pantsuit (two trends in one).
  • Red – you will also see lots of red this fall, which is great!! Because either you already have something in your closet in this color or you can easily find something at any price point. I like how Donna Karen is showing the red in a form fitting dress, so sexy!!
  • Gray – its not just any gray, its pale gray that was shown on the runway. One of my favorite colors and I have tons of gray in my closet already. See how beautifully Zac Posen presented this color in a dress.
